Etsy Offsite Ads: compare an attributed order

Check what an ad-attributed sale leaves after modeled fees and your own costs.

Illustrated etsy offsite ads — compare an attributed order

Start with the decision

Not every order should carry an Offsite Ads fee in your plan. Start by checking whether the sale is attributed to an Offsite Ad. The calculator uses zero for an unattributed scenario and lets you compare 12% or 15% for an attributed one.

Worked calculation

On the same 35 revenue example, a 15% attributed fee adds 5.25. Contribution falls from 14.225 to 8.975 when the other inputs stay unchanged. The revenue is unchanged; the cost of selling changed.

Compare attributed and unattributed orders

For this order model, contribution starts with item revenue after any discount plus charged shipping. Subtract the modeled marketplace and processing charges, listing allocation, product and packaging cost, labor and actual postage. Keep tax treatment and the fee base consistent with the official account records.

Treat attribution as an order fact to verify, not a marketing budget percentage to apply to every sale. Keep an unattributed scenario beside the applicable attributed rate, then review your Etsy order detail and current policy for the actual charge. The difference between these scenarios is the modeled advertising cost; it does not say whether the sale was incremental.

Check the changed-cost scenario

When comparing several products, the same percentage can produce very different dollar costs because order values differ. Test a low and high basket as well as a typical order, and make sure the fee cap and eligible order treatment in your own records match the current platform rules.

The 12% rate applies after the applicable Etsy sales threshold, not by preference. For an eligible 1,000 revenue order at 15%, the modeled charge reaches the 100 cap rather than 150. Attribution and applicable fee treatment must come from the actual account record.

Use the example with your own inputs

The modeled Offsite Ads charge is capped at 100 per order. Actual eligibility, attribution and fee bases should be checked in your Etsy statement; do not use a lower rate just to improve a forecast.

Scope and source checks

These are planning examples, not actual seller results. Keep currency, tax basis and cost allocation consistent. Enter your own figures and reconcile with your records; tax, demand, refunds and unlisted business costs can change the outcome.

Fee source reviewed 14 October 2026: Etsy fee documentation. US processing assumptions are 3% + 0.25; other countries differ. Check Etsy payment-processing country rates.
